Projects – to get involved in

Current Projects

Project Murals

This project encompasses the identification of the sites for the mural. Typically this is a wall or building which may already have graffiti or “tags” on it. These needed to be cleaned through paining to improve the general appearance of the estate as well as a surface to put the murals on. The second stage is identifying the muralist and acquiring funding. The third stage is to canvass opinion online as to what residents want to see in terms of murals on their estate.

Project Curraheen Garden

Along the cycleway there are opportunities to improve the verges with plants. Any plant which you have too many of, or needs a new home, can be relocated and help extend the coverage of flowers and foliage along the paths through the estate. We have already identified a starting location and work has begun clearing the soil and improving the light.

Project Weeding

The estate is prone to weeds occurring in many of the paved areas. We try to remove the worst by hand and follow up with weed prevention methods. We prioritise the entrances and areas where people are less able for physical work.

Project Cycleway

For many people their initial view of the estate is along the river walkway. In may parts the adjoining houses have adopted the borders and planted shrubs etc. Other parts are overgrown, overhanging and have garden cuttings dumped. We have an ongoing process of trying to keep this access route as pleasant and as safe as possible. Benches and bins are under consideration.
